KPN talks of market leading TV proposition

KPN has described its TV proposition as “market leading” after taking its share to 19% of the Dutch market.

Customers are shifting from basic to premium packages after a series of innovations that have included the introduction of a new set-top box, services from Spotify and HBO, and the delivery of IPTV onto smartphones.

An additional 89,000 IPTV homes were added in the quarter, though its DTT platform Digitenne lost 30,000 households, taking the installed bases to 741,000 and 771,000 respectively.

The TV service is going some way towards reversing the erosion of broadband subs, which are expected to stabalise in the fourth quarter.

Net line loss of 20,000 was less than in previous quarters.

Network upgrades are continuing with 70% of the Dutch market expected to be capable of receiving 40 Mbps by the end of the year.
