Kabel BW continues strong growth

Germany’s Kabel BW reported strong sales for its pay-TV, telephony and broadband services during the second quarter of the year. The number of homes now taking premium TV products has reached 324,000, up from 308,000 as of March 30, 2011.

Compared with the previous year, the number of premium TV subscribers has risen by 39%, up from 233,000. The combined number of telephony and broadband subscriptions (RGUs) reached 740,000 on June 30, 2011. This compares with 540,00 year earlier, representing a growth of around 25%.

The average revenue per customer per month (ARPU) rose in the second quarter of 2011 compared to last year from €17.60 to €19. “The number of internet and telephony customers is growing steadily and we are gaining market share month after month. The secret to the success of our business model is to combine high profitability with an excellent value for our customers,” said Harald Roesch, CEO of Kabel BW, in a statement.

For the first time turnover over six months has reached more than €300 million. The adjusted EBITDA margin rose to more than 58%. In all, revenues in the first half increased by 10.7% to €300.2 million (H1 2010: €271.3 million).

Adjusted EBITDA grew disproportionately by 16.3% to €175.4 million and also reached a new peak (H1 2010: €150.8 million). The adjusted EBITDA margin was 58.4% (H1 2010: 55.6%).
