Increased sales for phone and internet services have helped Kabel Deutschland return to the black. A 5.8% revenue rise to €412.1 million led the operator to a positive net result of €8.5 million for the quarter ending June 30, 2011, compared to last year’s loss of €2.5 million.

“We have again significantly increased our RGUs, revenues and earnings in the quarter under review and are on the right track to achieve our goals for the fiscal
year. These include a clearly positive net result”, said a satisfied Kabel Deutschland CEO Adrian v. Hammerstein.

The total number of Revenue Generating Units (RGUs) increased by 596,000 on the year to reach 12.8 million. The Company had 8.720 million customers on June 30, 2011, compared to 8.878 million in the previous year.

Indirect subscribers declined slightly to 1.197 million, from 1.391 million, though these customers tend to generate less revenue.

The majority of Kabel Deutschland’s broadband customers continue to subscribe to bundle packages comprising internet and phone services.

Premium TV RGUs are also on the climb, RGUs in this sector up by 209,000 to 1.317 million units.

A single Kabel Deutschland typically subscribes to 1.47 products on average, up from 1.38 products in the previous year.
