Over-the-top TV functionality is being introduced into Sharp TV sets sold in the Italian market following an agreement with the British-based Oregan Networks.

The company has supplied its media delivery engine that powers the Internet (Aquos Net) functionality inside the TV. The new Sharp LC32-LE225 is now available through Italian retailers.

Consumers can browse popular Internet video and social networking sites without using a PC, or alternatively, source personal media content from other devices that have storage capabilities, using Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) protocols for interoperability over wired or wireless networks.
