Having got the green light from Intel, Taiwanese manufacturer ASRock has provided the full scoop on its first motherboards based on the Z68 Express chipsets, the Z68 Extreme4 and Z68 Pro3 (ATX form factor) and the Z68 Pro3-M (micro ATX).
ASRock's boards come with support for LGA1155 (Sandy Bridge) processors, have four DDR3-2133 memory slots, are bundled with LucidLogix's Virtu software enabling automatic graphics switching, and include Intel's Smart Response Technology which enables a hybrid storage setup (SSD plus HDD) for lower access times and better performance.
The three Z68 models also include D-Sub, DVI and HDMI outputs (plus DisplayPort for the Z68 Extreme4 and Z68 Pro3-M), UEFI BIOS, the XFast USB technology (for higher USB 3.0 transfer speeds), Gigabit Ethernet, 7.1 channel audio, they support LGA775/1155/1156 coolers, and have at two USB 3.0 connectors on the backplate (the Extreme4 also has an USB 3.0 header).
The Z68 Pro3 and Z68 Pro3-M provide one PCI-Express x16 slot, while the Z68 Extreme4 comes with three PCIe x16 slots, enabling SLI or CrossFire setups. The latter board also include digital PWM and a PLX bridge chip for extra PCI lanes.
For now only the Z68 Extreme4 seems to be listed, and it costs €165.
