AMD's FX Series (codename Zambezi) processors will be more than welcomed in Asus' Republic of Gamers (ROG) and proof of that stands in the upcoming Crosshair V Formula motherboard which is based on the AMD 990FX chipset (SB950 southbrdige included) and fully supports AM3+ chips.
The new Crosshair board features an ATX form factor and a red/black color theme like its predecessors, it comes with a 10-phase Extreme Engine Digi+ power design, and will be available in two versions, with or without the Thunderbolt add-on card which combines Xonar audio with a Killer NIC E2100 NPU (network processing unit).
The Crosshair V Formula also packs four DDR3 memory slots, one eSATA and seven SATA 6.0 Gbps ports, four PCI-Express x16 slots allowing for 3-way SLI or CrossFireX setups, onboard Gigabit Ethernet, 7.1 channel audio, four USB 3.0 connectors on the backplate (plus a header for two more), Power, Reset and Clear CMOS buttons, ROG Connect for on-the-fly overclockers, and other ROG goodies. Availability is likely planned for June as that's when the Bulldozers (FX Series CPUs) are coming.
