Remember earlier this month when Gigabyte said it would release several Z68 motherboards equipped with an mSATA connector? Well now the Taiwanese company has put op on its website one of those boards, the GA-Z68XP-UD3-iSSD.
Seen below, Gigabyte's upcoming Z68 solution has an ATX form factor, an Ultra Durable 3 design (2oz copper PCB, Japanese solid capacitors, Lower RDS MOSFET, Ferrite Core Choke), and has its mSATA slot occupied by a 20GB Intel 311 Series solid state drive. This SSD features SLC (single-level cell) NAND Flash memory chips and is made specifically to be used with the Smart Response Technology (SRT) available on the Z68.
With SRT users can speed up their system by 'building' a hybrid storage system out of an SSD (the 20GB mSATA drive) that will act as cache and a high-capacity HDD.
Beside SRT-readiness, the GA-Z68XP-UD3-iSSD boasts four DDR3-2133 memory slots, four SATA 6.0 Gbps and four SATA 3.0 Gbps ports, two PCI-Express x16 slots (SLI and CrossFireX are supported), four USB 3.0 ports (two on the backpanel, two via an onboard header), DualBIOS, Gigabit Ethernet, a FireWire port, 7.1 channel audio and a HDMI output.
Gigabyte's motherboard also includes support for the Virtu GPU virtualization software. Expect to see it in stores in the coming weeks.
