Wondering what Gigabyte has cooked up in terms of high-end AM3+ motherboards? Well wonder no more because the Taiwanese company's GA-990FXA-UD7 model has found its way online courtesy of an unofficial but oh so sweet photo shoot.
As its name suggests, Gigabyte's upcoming board make use of the AMD 990FX chipset (backed by the SB950 southbridge) which means it can handle already-released AM3 processors as well as the highly-anticipated AM3+ FX Series (codename Zambezi) which are based on the Bulldozer architecture.
The GA-990FXA-UD7 comes with an all-black PCB and features an Ultra Durable 3 design, 8+2 phase power, four DDR3 memory slots, eight SATA 6.0 Gbps ports (six are 'powered' by the southbridge, the grey ones are linked to a Marvell controller), and six PCI-Express x16 slots which allow for SLI or CrossFireX multi-GPU setups. Also included are two USB 3.0 ports (two more are available via a header), Gigabit Ethernet, dual eSATA, FireWire, 7.1 channel audio, a debut LED, an angled SATA power connector, and Power, Reset and Clear CMOS buttons.
Expect Gigabyte to make the GA-990FXA-UD7 official in the next few weeks.
