Kingston Technology has teamed up with SandForce and announced the upcoming arrival of a HyperX solid state drive which features a SF-2281 controller and is able to offer gamers and enthusiasts sequential read and write speeds of up to 525 MB/s and 480 MB/s, respectively.
Known simply as the HyperX SSD, Kingston's drive has a 2.5-inch form factor, a SATA 6.0 Gbps interface, 25nm MLC (multi-level cell) NAND Flash memory chips, TRIM support, and comes in 120GB (random 4k read/write performance 95,000/70,000 IOPS) and 240GB (95,000/60,000 IOPS) capacities.
The HyperX SSDs will start shipping on July 11 and will be available either standalone or part of an Upgrade Kit which also includes a HyperX 2.5-inch desktop mounting plate, an USB external drive bay, a SATA data cable, a multi-head screwdriver and Acronis True Image HD migration software.
