LaCie, the maker of some seriously sexy storage solutions, is set to supply those in need of higher-grade data backup a device called CloudBox which will be able to keep data both locally, on an internal drive and online, on some cloudy servers.
By combining the two storage options, the CloudBox ensures that your data will be safe and secure (everything is encrypted too) and always ready when you need it. By backing up files in the cloud LaCie's ensures that the hardware failure or theft of the actual CloudBox 'box' won't affect a user's ability to retrieve data.
The CloudBox offers 100GB of internal storage and includes a one-year backup plan that offers the same amount. After the 12-month period passes the user will need to renew his/her plan for a fee.
LaCie's CloudBox features a Gigabit Ethernet port, is backed by a two-year warranty and should become available next month priced at $199.99 (yes, 200 bucks).
