The promised Android 2.2 (Froyo) update for the Nook Color is now ready to do wonders, which means turning Barnes & Noble's e-reader into an almost certified tablet with a very attractive price tag - $249.
The v1.2 firmware will literally transform the Nook Color as it adds app support (app store included), browser improvements, a full-features email application, Adobe Flash Player and AIR support, a sliding page turn animation, more content and a beta version of the Nook Friends app which enables users to see what their contacts have read/are reading, to swap books with LendMe and share recommendations.
This Nook Color update is currently rolling out OTA (over-the-air) via WiFi and should be available to all users in a few weeks.
