Mac-friendly US company Other World Computing has now rolled out a new 2.5-inch solid state drive line which is based around SandForce's SF-2281 controller, the consumer/prosumer-oriented Mercury Electra 6G.
Coming in an all-blue casing, the Electra SSDs feature a SATA 6.0 Gbps interface, TRIM and NCQ support, 2xnm MLC (multi-level cell) NAND Flash memory chips, they deliver sequential read and write speeds of up to 556 MB/s and 523 MB/s, respectively, and are capable of a 4k random read/write performance of up to 60,000 IOPS.
The Mercury Electra 6G drives are backed by a three-year warranty and cost $229.99 (120GB model), $479.99 (240GB) and $929.99 (480GB).
