Putting and end to rumors and more or less obvious leaks, HP today announced that the webOS-powered TouchPad will become available in the US as of July 1st (pre-orders begin June 19), with UK, Ireland, France and Germany set to get it a few days later.
As expected, the first models to arrive are those without 3G and will cost $500 (16GB) and $600 (32GB). Both units have a 9.7-inch (1024 x 768) capacitive touchscreen, a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, a front-facing 1.3 megapixel webcam, stereo speakers backed by Beats Audio technology, a micro-USB port, an accelerometer, a compass, a gyroscope, a light sensor and a 6300 mAh battery.
A 3G-equipped TouchPad is also on the way, and will be introduced in the US in partnership with AT&T later this summer.
